New on the Scene – Dining at Hawksmoor Wood Wharf

Having opened its biggest restaurant to date, a floating pavilion at the heart of Canary Wharf’s new neighbourhood, Wood Wharf, Hawksmoor is the place to be this Christmas. Its interior is themed on the Golden Age of Travel: the glamour of Hawksmoor’s Manhattan steakhouse, with a little high-end ocean liner mixed in. In the run-up to Christmas, head to The Lowback where you can sip cocktails to your heart’s content at the nine-metre-long bar that oozes glamour. Then make like the French – who are particularly fond of a platter of chilled oysters as a holiday appetiser – and order six or a dozen of them, and after share a Chateaubriand; it will be sure to get you and your loved ones into the festive spirit.

Seasonal Choices Galore at The Ivy in the Park

The Ivy in the Park is making every day a snow day this year. Its façade is full of festive florals and the sumptuous smell of Norwegian spruce paves the way to get you in the mood for a memorable Yuletide meal. Pick from a delicious selection of festive starters – be sure to sample the Duck Liver Parfait – mains – the Goose Shepherd’s Pie served with pigs in blankets and cranberry sauce makes for a luxurious winter treat – and desserts – a Snowball Fight with brandy ice cream, white chocolate, gingerbread and cream sauce ticks all the festive food boxes.

And with a Colston Bassett Stilton cheese course served with 10-year Tawny Port, chutney, grapes and crackers, what’s not to love? Alongside your food, pick from Christmassy cocktails to warm the soul and finish with an indulgent hot chocolate that really packs a punch.

A Festive Sandwich and Other Specials at The Breakfast Club

Grab life by the baubles at The Breakfast Club and tuck into the Breakfast Club Xmas Sandwich that is filled with deep-fried Camembert, potato and sprout bubble, pickled red cabbage, spinach, root vegetable crisps and cranberry mayo, and is served with fries and stuffing mayo.

Other festive mains include the Turkey Waffle Dinner and Black Forest Pancakes, while the Deep-Fried Mince Pie is the ultimate dessert. Wash these dishes down with an Orange and Grapefruit Bellini.

All That Jazz at Boisdale of Canary Wharf

For a meal to remember, you can’t go far wrong than booking a table at Boisdale of Canary Wharf. Whether it’s a date night for two, a get-together with friends or a work occasion, it’s a must-do this festive period – especially its Christmas Jazz Lunch that runs every day from 12 noon and has live performances from Jazz with Jo Harrop Quartet. Savour a sumptuous three course lunch that includes free range roast turkey and all the trimmings as well as vegetarian options, using the very finest seasonal British ingredients.

Desserts and Drinks at Pergola On the Wharf

Best known as the place to drink, dine and dance – its Friday night Pergola Lates plays host to a fresh line-up of live acts and DJs play disco, funk and house sets every week – Pergola On The Wharf’s all-day menu features some mouth-watering festive desserts while its drinks menu has some wonderful winter warmers.

Try the vegan brandy-soaked sultana-filled Christmas Pudding with vanilla cream and cranberry compote, vegan Brownie Sundae served with blackcurrant coulis and praline, or the Valrhona Dark Chocolate Orange Ganache with crisp honeycomb and crème fraîche. These sweet treats can be savoured post-meal or accompanied by a Seasonal Gingerbread or Salted Caramel Espresso Martini. The Mulled Wine, Mulled Cider and Hot Negronis are also must-tries.

An Alternative Option at Sticks’n’Sushi

You might not automatically put ‘sushi’ and ‘Christmas’ together but Sticks’n’Sushi has introduced its Sticks’n’Santa Japanese menu, prepared by its chefs with extra love, care and sparkle this year. Start with the Smoked Salmon Tartare for a typical Christmas dish, or for plant-based options, go for the Green Sticks’n’Santa menu that is filled with tasty vegan dishes that are perfect for you or to share with friends and family.

Break up Christmas shopping, working or exploring the Estate by picking up a quick bite to eat

Birley’s Churchill Place makes specialty sandwiches, and we particularly like the sound of the Turkey Steak, Crisped Bacon and Cheese on Ciabatta – head there for a taste of Christmas. Meanwhile, chains are renowned for their specialty Christmas coffees and their festive food: stand-out choices this year include Caffè Nero’s Pigs in Blankets Toastati Melt, Pret a Manger’s Christmas Stuffing Mac and Cheese, Starbucks’ plant-based Very Merry Beyond Meat Sandwich and Greggs’ Festive Bake filled with chicken, stuffing and bacon covered in a creamy sage and cranberry sauce. Finally, sweet tooths won’t be disappointed with Crosstown’s creations: think Cranberry Matcha Cake, Mulled Wine with Cointreau Custard Doughnuts and classic Cinnamon Rolls.
