30 November 2023

At this time of year, there’s nothing better than eating out with friends and colleagues. Brighten up mornings with brunch, swap lunch ‘al desko’ for a social bite to eat, celebrate special occasions – or simply the festive season – with a memorably mouth-watering meal and dance the night away, cocktails in hand, to the sound of live music or DJs. With restaurants, cafés and bars ranging from independent spots to renowned names, with regular new openings, there’s everything you could want to find, and more. Enjoy!

Brunch & Lunch in Canary Wharf

Brunch at Feels Like June

Start your day with an excellent coffee from the likes of Grind, 640East or Blank Street and then relax into an all-day, or bottomless, brunch at a cosy spot in Wood Wharf or at a local waterside restaurant. The daytime offering in Canary Wharf is extensive, and all options are equally tempting, whether you fancy traditional eggs and pancakes, a perfectly-done steak, vegan delights, a premium burger or Bombay-inspired cuisine. Start your day with coffee at Caravan and then pretend it’s summer thanks to the California vibes at Feels Like June. Come lunchtime, you won’t find a more enticing burger than those at Patty&Bun or a better chophouse than Blacklock. Enjoy a seasonal, ever-changing menu at Pedler and wildly popular Bombay-inspired cuisine at Dishoom.

Winter Drinks

Couple sitting at the bar in Electric Shuffle

Whatever your drink of choice, from coffee to cocktails via champagne and smoothies, Canary Wharf has a brilliant range of diverse places that are ready to welcome you in for a drink or two. There’s everything from cosy coffee shops making exceptional specialty brews to intimate wine bars, lively pubs, hotel lounges and pop-up winter bars. If you’re a cocktail kind of person, try the festive creations at The Parlour or Electric Shuffle’s innovative concoctions while you play shuffleboard; spirit connoisseurs will be tempted by ‘molecular magic’ at The Alchemist. For the perfectly-pulled pint, head to Brewdog and to have a good chat with an expert about the best wine for your festive gathering, it can only be Humble Grape.

Foodie Favourites

If you’re a serious foodie and love a special dining experience, Canary Wharf is full of possibilities this season. Enjoy a wide range of exceptional cuisine, inventive dishes and themed menus, all prepared by top chefs and enhanced by our restaurants’ wonderful ambience and decor. Ingredients are often local, organic and sustainable, and always of the highest quality. Whatever the preference, there’s a high standard of private dining in Canary Wharf, so book well in advance if you’re a bigger group to make sure you can get a table at your favourite spot. That might be The Ivy in the Park, with its exquisite Butterfly Room, or Hawksmoor’s cosy wood-panelled room (head to its Lowback bar afterwards). Long-standing and much-loved ROKA has plenty of private diving options too, from lounge to terrace.

New to the Wharf, mallow is the place to ensure vegans and vegetarians enjoy an exemplary menu, in its warm, inviting first floor space which can be hired out. Also new and just as highly anticipated is Fish Game, where the finest fish and game are cooked with ash and charcoal.

Six by Nico is perfect for special occasions thanks not just to the quality of its food and intimate atmosphere but also the innovative themed menus which change every six weeks.

International Flavours

Sushi at Sticks'n'Sushi

This is one for those with an adventurous palate: Canary Wharf is home to restaurants serving all kinds of international cuisine, from Indian soul food at Chai Ki, and Japanese yakitori at Sticks’n’Sushi to Korean street food at Seoul Bird. Europe is well represented by award-winning tapas (Iberica) and Italian dishes pasta cooked to perfection (Emilia’s Crafted Pasta) and there are also retailers offering authentic Caribbean, Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese dishes. Where to start?!

Music, DJs & Great Late Nights

Live band playing in Boisdale

Late-night bars, dinners that end with dancing, amazing brunches accompanied by soulful vocals; disco, funk and house nights, and much more: it’s lively here at night and that’s in no small part thanks to the choice of live music in Canary Wharf. Boisdale is known and loved for the brilliant bands that play classics by the likes of Luther Vandross, Bob Marley and Frank Sinatra, while you can enjoy food and drinks accompanied by a side of amazing vocals and saxophone solos at No. 35 MacKenzie Walk. Pergola On The Wharf hosts electrifying disco, funk and house nights, called Pergola Lates. For an evening you won’t want to end, whether that’s in an atmospheric bar with live music or somewhere with first-class cocktails and a packed dancefloor, you’ll find it in Canary Wharf.

The Best Lunches ‘Al Desko’

We understand sometimes you just can’t escape your desk for very long. There’s absolutely no need to miss out on a satisfying lunch though – you can work your way through the best of the season’s festive sandwiches! Greggs, Pret, Leon, Paul, Starbucks, Pure, M&S – the choice is extensive, and seriously satisfying. And if last year’s tantalising Subway Christmas menu is anything to go by, you’re in for a treat.
