Faith Events: Ramadan & Eid

Friday 20 February – Monday 23 March
Crossrail Place Roof Garden

Ramadan in Islam, is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar and the holy month of fasting and prayer.

The light installation in our Crossrail Place Roof Garden is in recognition of this special time for our Muslim community. It is accompanied this year by a listening post, where visitors can find out more about the history of the crescent moon symbol and it’s connection to Islam.

You can learn about Islamic patterns at our free community workshops on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 March. Join us in building a giant polyhedral structure which will remain on display during Eid.

Islamic patterns reflect core principles of Islamic belief such as unity, order, and the infinite nature of God (Allah). Islamic art uses geometric patterns, repeating motifs, and intricate symmetry to symbolise the perfection and harmony of creation. These designs encourage contemplation, reminding viewers of the divine presence in the structure and balance of the universe.
