Faith Events: Diwali

Join us in honouring Diwali through craft workshops, free spiced chai tea, South Asian food and live music as we celebrate the triumph of good over evil, light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.

Diwali Crafts

Jubilee Place Mall -1

Celebrate the spirit of Diwali at our craft workshops. Choose from paper lantern decoration, mindfulness mandala colouring, water lantern wishes and Indian block printing. 

You can take your creation home with you on the day, or contribute your piece towards Tuesdays water lantern display, honouring this special time of year for the Hindu community. 

Should you wish to collect your creation after the festival, the craft space will be open on Thursday for contributors to retrieve their work.

Collect a complimentary cup of warm spiced chai tea courtesy of Dishoom, and watch as the water lanterns decorated by the community are released into the tranquil ponds of Jubilee Park – our symbol of light overcoming darkness. 

The Lunch Market – Diwali Special

12 noon – 2.30pm

In celebration of South Asian cuisine, join us for a special lunch market. A kaleidoscope of flavours will be on offer from some of our much loved pop-up traders, including; 

Live music will be provided by Baja Beats – Europe’s and the UK’s Finest Band Baja.

Performances will take place at 12 noon & 1pm, filling Jubilee Park with the unique sound of brass instruments fused with the traditional sound of the Indian Dhol. You can expect to hear a variety of music genres from Bollywood, Bhangra and Hindi to the sounds of Hip Hop and House from our electrifying performances!

Unable to escape your desk at lunchtime? The band will be back at 5pm for one last closing performance. 

Diwali Community Craft Display

As we bring this years Diwali celebrations to a close, Thursday 23 October will be the last opportunity to view the Diwali creations made by the community during our craft workshops. 

We invite those who have contributed, to come and collect their creations before 6pm.

Additional Event Information

Filming & Photography

Filming and photography take place at most Canary Wharf events. Our film and photography staff will wear vests to clearly identify themselves. If you have any concerns about being photographed or filmed, please speak to staff onsite.

If you are unable to sit on the grass, you are welcome to bring a portable chair with you. Please speak to the stewards on site when you arrive who will advise on the best place to set this up to ensure you and your fellow guests are able to view the screens.
