Transforming the beautiful space of Broadwick Studio, REFUSE is a group exhibition coinciding with the launch of a new permanent artwork into the Canary Wharf permanent art collection, showcasing two artists working with reclaimed materials and waste.
Poojan Gupta who, as part of her process, interrogates how ordinary objects can be transformed into something special, is creating a site-specific installation. Using spent blister packets, Gupta will adorn the space with an immersive artwork suspended from the ceiling.
Ashley Cluer uses art as a way to understand the world and to make her fascination with it tangible. Sculpting what she sees in her mind, Cluer uses reclaimed materials as a way to anchor these abstract forms to the real world. She has even been known to break apart existing sculptures and use the remains to form new pieces in an act of reworking, reimagining and reusing. Cluer will be exhibiting several existing pieces for REFUSE in the form of wall panels and small-scale sculptures, including maquettes of her sculptures, An Ode to Never Fitting In, which are a part of the Canary Wharf permanent art collection.
*this exhibition is open on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays only*
