We’ve selected the most exciting up-and-coming artists from East London and beyond to perform their original music and covers of your favourite songs. With an offering including soul, jazz, pop and RnB, this year’s emerging artist series is the perfect way to discover new talent and support young singer-songwriters who will become the stars of the future.

THURSDAY 25 JULY

Josh Gleaves, 12.30-2pm

Josh Gleaves

Josh Gleaves is a singer-songwriter and musician who released his debut EP ‘Stuck’ in May 2017 at 16 years of age. Whilst working towards his next album, Josh busks in London and is currently performing around the country, whilst constantly songwriting. Earlier in the year, Josh performed in Nashville and has been working with hit writers in the southern states. Josh’s trip to Nashville has helped fuel his passion for country music and has inspired some of his newest songs.

Soul Stripped Sessions: MwS and Jennifer Kamikazi, 6-7pm

MwS and Jennifer Kamikazi

Soul Stripped Sessions will be taking over our early evening slot with highlights from their bi-monthly gig series. Curated by Bee Bakare, a singer-songwriter with credits ranging from BBC radio to prime-time TV, Soul Stripped Sessions prides itself on inspiring creative women in soul music whilst advocating fairness, respect and support for female independent artists.

MwS is a London-based duo formed in Italy. Influenced by the likes of Norah Jones, J Dilla and Radiohead, they strive to create a unique brand of alternative R&B with lyrics about personal growth, mental health and the creative mind’s challenges.

Jennifer Kamikazi is a singer/songwriter with a captivating and distinct voice. The trademark of her sound is attributed to her soft vibrational tones, coupled with her delightfully pure and vulnerable lyrics.

Little Water, 7.30-9pm

Little Water

Little Water are an alternative duo consisting of Connor Roff and Becky CJ. Bringing together indie folk and pop, their powerful and unique voices combine to deliver carefully crafted songs from an honest perspective. Both members of the LGBT+ community, Connor and Becky bring a captivating natural chemistry on stage. Their debut release premiered on Folk Radio, was championed by BBC Introducing London, and led them to feature as Gary Crowley’s artist of the week. With a strong catalogue of original material, 2019 is set up to be the best yet for Little Water.

THURSDAY 1 AUGUST

Rosie Ash, 12.30-2pm

Rosie Ash

Rosie Ash is a singer-songwriter and busker living in East London who recently released her debut single ‘black+blue’. Rosie has had her music featured at the Tate Britain as part of Wired4music’s London Takeover, been featured as part of Alpha Sessions Tenth Anniversary Celebrations, and was selected as a songwriting finalist for Busk In London’s gigs competition 2017. Her music is a mix of folk and pop, often with a narrative or story to tell, with songs written on guitar, piano, ukulele and on occasion with a full orchestra!

Lisa Grand is an up-and-coming singer-songwriter, pianist and artist. Her music combines sultry, soulful vocals with powerful hooks reminiscent of iconic artists such as Aretha Franklin and Prince

Bee Bakare is a soulful pop powerhouse with deeply heartfelt lyrics. Having found comfort in Lauryn Hill and Whitney Houston songs growing up, she used her songwriting as an emotional escape. Bee Bakare is the host of Soul Stripped Sessions, which opened the doors to her becoming a Judge on BBC’s ‘All Together Now’.

Renato Paris, 7.30-9pm

Renato Paris

The great sounds of soul, pop, rhythm, blues, jazz, and funk merge together to create the signature sound of Renato Paris. Freshly 23, and a regular on the vibrant young London Jazz scene, he has been featured at Grammy Camp L.A., Jazz FM Awards 2019, BBC Maida Vale Live Sessions, BBC 1Xtra & BBC Radio 3. “His voice grabs you, is warm, soulful and will stay with you – Renato always delivers!” – Julian Joseph.

THURSDAY 8 AUGUST

Sully Gravity, 12.30-2pm

Sully Gravity

Uniquely soothing and emotive, soul, RnB and Gospel-inspired singer-songwriter Sully Gravity (real name Sultan Alabede) has been writing songs since he was 12, and now balances his studies at The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance with teaching and performing in choirs. Having performed with Bruno Major and played at several venues all over London, including venues such as Hard Rock Café, Birthdays and Under the Bridge, he’s currently working on his debut EP, epokhe, to be released later this year.

Soul Stripped Sessions: Natalie Lindi and Lili Caseley, 6-7.30pm

Curated by Bee Bakare, a singer-songwriter with credits ranging from BBC radio to prime-time TV, Soul Stripped Sessions prides itself on inspiring creative women in soul music whilst advocating fairness, respect and support for female independent artists.

Natalie Lindi is a singer-songwriter who borrows sounds of jazz, soul and pop. Lindi opens the door to her inner world through raw, heartfelt originals.

Lili Caseley is an English, Portugese and French artist from Camden. The RnB/Pop/Soul singer cites various musical influences such as Nelly Furtado, Frank Ocean and Billie Holiday.

Vadé, 8-9pm

Vadé

Vadé have had the privilege of sharing the stage with incredible talent including Gregory Porter, Alexandra Burke, and Beverley Knight, and  their debut album, ‘Cry Your Heart Out’, was recorded at the world renowned Abbey Road Studios. With the perfect combination of scintillating harmonies, exquisite blend and breathtaking voices, this a cappella R&B quintet is set to inspire, excite and move you.
