Founded in 1860, Providence Row is a charity with a centre in East London that tackles the root causes of homelessness to help people get off and stay off the streets. Working with people to build skills and confidence is the key to success.
The Art Group meets for 3 hours on a Wednesday morning to make art, welcoming all levels and experience. For the members, art can be all manner of things, from creating peace in the world, benefiting one’s wellbeing, to curing anger. Asking ‘what is art’ is like asking ‘what are people’.
Providence Row is Winner of the Social Justice SME Award 2014 and a finalist at the London Homelessness Awards 2015. It is also home to Rise Bakery, a social enterprise that sells delicious cakes online. www.providencerow.org.uk
